Why wait until Wednesday to get your hands on Apple’s new operating system when you can download it right now? While I was out doing errands today, I stumbled across a post on Lifehacker that had the instructions to getting iOS 7 today. So, I quickly saved the article to Instapaper so I could quickly pop it up when I got home. Below is a clipping from Lifehacker with the downloads and instructions, have fun!
Although iOS 7 won’t see an official release until September 18th, you can install the final version right now even if you’re not a developer thanks to some anonymous public postings of the software update files.
Note: We updated a few iDevices using these files and encountered no issues, but because we’re unable to verify every single one we can’t say for certain that problems won’t arise. This is the GM release—the same one that will get released to the world next week—so it should work just the same, but there’s always a chance you could run into an issue. Please be aware that there’s some risk involved before you upgrade.
Back Up First!
Before you do anything, back up your iDevice with iTunes. In the past, we’ve rarely seen an issue with early upgrades but that doesn’t mean issues don’t happen. You may need to restore your device, so back it up first!
Download iOS 7
Thanks to a public (and probably temporary) posting on Mega, a number of iOS 7 updates are available for download. Not all devices were posted, but if more show up we’ll add them. Here’s what’s available so far:

Note: iOS 7 requires a later version of iTunes so you may not be able to use your iDevice with iTunes post-update (at least, not until Apple releases the new version or you install the beta).
Install the Update
To install iOS 7 on your device, follow these instructions:
- Open up the disk image (.dmg) and find the iPhone Software Update file (.ipsw) for your device. Drag it to the desktop, or a folder of your choosing. (Windows users will need a tool like 7-Zip to do this, and will need to open the .hfs inside the .dmg as well.)
- Open iTunes and connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, to your computer.
- If your device isn’t automatically selected in iTunes, select it and go to the “Summary” tab.
- Hold down the option key (OS X) or the shift key (Windows) and click the Restore button. Browse to the .ipsw file you downloaded, select it, and wait for the update to finish.
- If necessary, restore your device from backup and sync with iTunes.
That’s it. If you follow those steps, you’ll be up and running iOS 7 in no time.
Today, in a few hours from the the time of this writing, Apple will make their big announcement. Will they introduce the iPhone 5S or the 5C? Every time there is a new Apple announcement, I am seldom wrong in my predictions. Apart from the new line of iPhones, I can’t wait for the new iO7 operating system to come out even though I am still on the iPhone 4 and I’m fairly certain that my phone will lag big time with the new update. I am willing to take that risk to play with the new features though.
It’s been two years since Steve Jobs passed away; he was such an awesome CEO/Leader that it’s difficult to tell what will happen with the company from now on. Tim Cook is a great CEO as well, but he lacks the charisma that Jobs had. I recently read an article that Apple is gearing up to sell a huge 6 inch screen iPhone, when that will happen is up in the air, however, I don’t think that is the right move for Apple/Cook to take. I myself am used to the smaller screen i.e. 3.5 or 4 inch iPhone such as the iPhone 4/4s and the iPhone 5.
I haven’t slept all night in preparation for this big day. Call me a “fanboy”, I am very loyal to the things that matter most to me. I am the same way when it comes to the ever popular TV show “Breaking Bad” especially with the last few shows on the horizon, but I digress. This is the ultimate Superbowl for me, it only sucks that I am not able to afford the new gadgets at the moment, but as soon as I am able to purchase, I will be in the store in a flash.

All three of these P2P (person to person) payment systems are great but which one is the best?
I’ve used Paypal
since 2007 when I first opened my eBay account. At first glance the service seems really good and the website has a smooth interface to make any transaction, whether to accept money or withdraw. When it comes to fees and especially if you make a sale on eBay, you will see a drastic cut in your overall profits. I give Paypal a 3 out of 5 because of its ease of use and my only complaint would be the fees. Either eBay cuts back on the fees or Paypal or just set a standard low cost fee, so we the sellers can take home a little more money at the end of the day.
The next service I signed up for is Dwolla. The name may sounds funny but they mean business. The main reason I signed up was as a payment alternative on Cashcrate, which is a website where they pay you to take online surveys. So, instead of waiting for a paycheck to arrive in the mail I opted for this alternative. At first, I thought it was going to be a long process to sign up but it only took a few moments. When you get into your Dwolla account you want to link your bank so you can transfer money back and forth. Dwolla deposits two small amounts into your bank account and two business days later you log into your Dwolla account and confirm the deposits and your account is all set up, ease as that. I highly recommend this service and I give it a 4 out of 5.
And last but certainly not least is Venmo. I downloaded the app on the iPhone App Store one gloomy day because I had heard so much about their service that I wanted to give it a spin. By far this is the most simple to use of all three services and you can be up and running in a matter of minutes. Just like the other two services, you have to link a bank account to transfer between accounts. Venmo is prided as a social platform to pay back your friends for lunch or other oddities. You even get a social timeline with the type of transaction you completed, however, as for me I choose to keep private who and where I transact with. I give Venmo a 5 out of 5 for its clean ‘twitter’ like interface and super ease of use.
In today’s world everything is fast past, you want to be in and out as quick as possible and Venmo helps you achieve that.
Right now I can hear the air condition in the background. I am also watching the rare Steve Jobs interview while I am writing this post. What if Apple never existed? We would probably still be using flip phones or blackberries. As I write this article and ponder on the previous question, my mood is a steady giddiness.
I am glad that Apple exists because my new counterfeit mophie case, which I bought on ebay would be useless. By the way, about the Mophie case; the case arrived on time, however I quickly realized that I had a counterfeit.
So, I immediately called eBay to recoup my funds. Within hours I got credit bad for the case, plus I kept the case!
The moral of the story is that no matter what you are going through, this too, shall pass. When times are good, they are good. And when times are bad they are bad, but it won’t last, so sit back and relax.
Ok, now I’m just rambling. I haven’t updated a post in a while and I’m subjecting my loyal followers to the incoherence of a mad man.
Lately, since I’ve been taking Valerian root for my mild insomnia I have been getting some intense dreams. It seems cool to finally be acknowledged by my inner mind to so eloquently grace me with such masterpieces.
On a movie note, I would suggest anyone reading this post to watch I Spit On Your Grave. Both the 1978 and 2010 versions are pure awesomeness. You have the main female protagonist against a group of sado-rapists and it’s so grotesque the way they torture her that in the end you just want to tear those guys to pieces. Needless to say by the end of the flick you will be rooting for the main character as she slashes each guy.

Breaking bad is only 6 more episodes from oblivion. 😦 This is by far the best TV show that I like, however, I am starting to watch It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, so I’ll continue to watch this show once Breaking Bad is no more. Sunday’s Breaking Bad episode was really good, I like all the tension that’s going on between everyone; love him or hate him, I’m actually rooting for Walt and Sky to make it through the end. It look like it’s Walt/Sky against Hank/Marie, so the last few episodes are really going to be great.
And, as for It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, I can’t believe I missed this gem on TV! I had seen an episode on FX a long time ago but didn’t get too into the show. A few nights ago I was on Netflix and decided to give it a try from the beginning and boy is this show really hilarious. I like all the antics over at Paddy’s Pub, so my plan is to catch up with all the seasons and then start watching the show on FXX (the new TV channel that is set to premiere in September) when the new season comes on in September.
A couple of days ago I decided to take a casual walk around town to clear my mind. It started off like any other day, until I walked straight through the gates of hell. It all began when I settled on taking a different route than I usually do; the sun was slowly setting and it seemed like a pleasant evening. I walked past the old county courthouse and glanced back at it’s magnificent beauty. This was a fantastic 80’s flick about Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers (C.H.U.D). When I first crossed paths with this flick on Netflix, I kept brushing it off as a lame movie. Yesterday, however, while waiting for the new episode of Breaking Bad to come out, I decided to check this movie out.
The movie starts off ominous enough with Mr. McAllister (actor from Home Alone) photographing some random lady in the street. It then slowly progresses into the main topic and how the people living in the sewers start turning into cannibals.
I don’t want to get too into detail in case some of you out there haven’t seen this 29 year old movie. You will see one of John Goodman’s first on big screen performances.
If you happen to be bored on a Sunday afternoon, you might be surprised by this Hollywood gem.
